The lights flared and the backdrop shone in view. The curtains opened and Eurydice, played by Elika Hashemi, stepped into scene. The scene opens with the marriage of Orpheus and Eurydice, a young couple joyously in love. Falling to her death, Eurydice finds herself in the Underworld, memory washed clean after being dipped in the River of Lethe. A modern retelling of a Greek myth, set in the 1950s, the play narrates Eurydice’s journey of remembrance as she recollects her identity, family and forgotten love. Orpheus travels to retrieve his bride, in hopes of rekindling their forsaken love. Eurydice! narrates a pursuit of lost love, in the form of a timeless love story.
